ART SENSATION!!!

We have been busy this term with art, focusing on portraits. We looked at some portraits from different famous artists and used some of these for inspiration.

Our first portrait was based on work by pop artist Andy Warhol.
We created a portrait by tracing a photograph, inking the tracing, printing it four times
then using pastel and dye on each image using different colours.

The results were stunning...

We have also been looking at portraits of a more abstract nature...Cubism.
Here is a sample of our art based on portraits by Pablo Picasso:

Year 5 Pit Day!

The Year 5 classes were busy this week with a day full of challenges, teamwork, mistakes and achievements. We have been learning about the Learning Pit, Fixed Mindset vs Growth Mindset and Learning Behaviours. The Pit Day was designed to test some of these concepts. Challenges included a code to decipher, a construction from straws and tape, an area to cover and a drama to plan. Here are a few groups at work...

...at the end of the day we had a time of reflection where students were able to discuss the successes and frustrations as well as nominate others who they noticed were being helpful in some way.
